Andrew and Tess’s Sunrise Acadia Elopement perfectly balanced intimacy, adventure, and meaningful moments with loved ones. They weren’t interested in choosing between an adventurous wedding experience and celebrating with family. Instead, they found a way to have both.
Their day included a slow morning getting ready with family, a sunrise first look at Otter Cliffs, a coastal ceremony at Otter Point, an adventure hike overlooking Jordan Pond, and a celebratory brunch with everyone they love. It was intentional from beginning to end and felt like the perfect representation of what an elopement can be.
If you’ve ever considered planning a Sunrise Acadia Elopement, let me tell you something: waking up before the birds is absolutely worth it.
Sunrise in Acadia National Park offers a completely different experience than any other time of day. The crowds are nearly nonexistent, the park feels quiet and peaceful, and the soft morning light creates some of the most beautiful conditions imaginable.
For Andrew and Tess, choosing sunrise meant they could experience some of Acadia’s most iconic locations in a way that felt personal and intimate.
As I drove to their Airbnb that morning, I couldn’t help but smile knowing what they were about to experience. The conditions were perfect, and Acadia was about to put on quite a show.

When I arrived at the Airbnb, everyone was already awake and preparing for the best day ever.
Tess and her bridesmaids were downstairs getting ready while the guys were upstairs sharing laughs and helping each other prepare for the day ahead. The atmosphere was calm and intentional. Nobody felt rushed. There was no stress or pressure. Everyone was simply enjoying the moment and soaking in the excitement.
While everyone got dressed, I focused on capturing details that helped tell the story of their day.
One of my favorite personal touches involved their new dog, Bowie. Even though he wasn’t able to make the trip to Acadia, Andrew and Tess brought along a small figurine that looked just like him. It was such a thoughtful way to include an important member of their family and added a fun personal touch to their detail photographs.

As the morning continued, Tess’s mom helped zip up her dress while her bridesmaids assisted with jewelry and final touches. These quiet moments often become some of my favorite memories from wedding days because they’re filled with anticipation, emotion, and genuine connection.
Before long, it was time to head into Acadia National Park.

To keep the first look a surprise, Tess rode with me while Andrew followed behind in his own vehicle.
The drive to Otter Cliffs was absolutely beautiful. The sky was beginning to brighten, and you could feel the excitement building as we approached one of Acadia’s most iconic coastal locations.
When we arrived, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow through the trees and illuminating the rocky coastline below. The cool ocean breeze drifted in from the Atlantic as I walked Andrew into position for the first look.
Before I stepped away, I gave him one simple reminder.
“This is it. Take a moment and think about all the adventures, memories, and experiences that brought you here today.”

Then I went back to get Tess.
As we walked toward the location, she couldn’t stop talking about how incredible everything looked. The sunrise was filtering through the trees, creating the most beautiful golden light imaginable.
When Tess finally tapped Andrew on the shoulder and he turned around, his face immediately lit up.
His smile said everything.
Seeing his bride standing there surrounded by the morning glow was a moment neither of them will ever forget.
I stepped back and gave them time to simply enjoy each other before continuing on with the next part of their adventure.
Just around the corner from their first look location was a quiet spot overlooking the ocean where they planned to finish writing their vows.
The setting couldn’t have been more perfect.
As the sun continued climbing into the sky, waves rolled gently against the shoreline below. A buoy rang softly in the distance, creating a peaceful soundtrack for the moment.

Andrew and Tess sat together, taking in the view and reflecting on the promises they were about to make to one another. It was one of those moments that felt completely removed from the rest of the world.
Just the two of them, the ocean, and the words that would soon make them husband and wife.
After finishing their vows, we made our way to Otter Point for the ceremony.
Before the ceremony began, Tess shared an incredibly meaningful first look with her father and brother.
It was one of the most emotional moments of the day.
The look on her father’s face when he saw his daughter in her wedding dress was exactly what you’d imagine. Tears filled his eyes as he stepped forward to embrace her. Her brother stood there speechless, overwhelmed by the moment and by how beautiful his sister looked.
There truly wasn’t a dry eye in sight.

Soon after, we made our way to the ceremony location along the rocky coastline.
With the Atlantic Ocean stretching endlessly behind them, Andrew and Tess exchanged vows and rings surrounded by family and the soothing sound of waves crashing below.
The ceremony felt cinematic, emotional, and deeply personal.
One of the details Tess had hoped for throughout the day was seeing boats out on the water. Acadia certainly delivered. Boats drifted through the background during both their first look and ceremony, adding another layer of coastal charm to an already incredible morning. When they shared their first kiss as husband and wife with the Atlantic Ocean behind them, it was pure magic.

After celebrating with family and capturing group portraits, it was finally time for some adventure.
We loaded into the cars and headed toward Seal Harbor Beach, bringing along Tess’s Maid of Honor who was a huge help throughout the day.
Seal Harbor Beach offered a completely different landscape than the rugged coastline we’d explored earlier. Instead of dramatic cliffs and rocky shores, we were greeted with soft sand and gentle waves.

Andrew and Tess changed into their Vans, making things a little more comfortable for the adventures ahead.
We spent time exploring the shoreline, capturing playful portraits, photographing Tess’s jean jacket and veil, and simply enjoying the beach together.
Next came one of the most adventurous parts of their Sunrise Acadia Elopement.
The hike to North Bubble Overlook.

They knew going into the day that this stop would require some effort, but they were all in.
Andrew and Tess handled it like absolute champions. We took our time making our way to the summit, stopping whenever needed and enjoying the journey as much as the destination. When we finally reached the overlook, both of them stopped in their tracks.
The view overlooking Jordan Pond was absolutely breathtaking.

Rolling hills stretched into the distance while the water below reflected the morning light. After taking everything in, they turned toward me and immediately agreed that the hike had been one hundred percent worth it.
To celebrate, I pulled out a special surprise I had packed in the cooler.
Ice cream.
They found a spot overlooking the view and enjoyed a sweet treat together as newlyweds while soaking in one of the most iconic landscapes in Acadia National Park.
It was simple, fun, and exactly the kind of moment that made their day uniquely theirs.
After making our way back down the mountain, we packed up and headed toward the final stop of their wedding day. And honestly, brunch with an ocean view might be one of the most underrated reception ideas ever.
Their family gathered at Looking Glass Restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, ready to celebrate everything that had happened that morning.
The room was filled with laughter, hugs, stories, and so much love.

As I captured a few final photographs of everyone together, it was impossible not to appreciate how perfectly the day had come together.
Andrew and Tess had experienced a true adventure, explored some of Acadia’s most beautiful locations, shared meaningful moments with family, and celebrated their marriage exactly the way they envisioned.
If Andrew and Tess’s story proves anything, it’s that you don’t have to choose between adventure and family.
A Sunrise Acadia Elopement allows you to experience the beauty of Acadia National Park in a deeply personal way while still including the people who matter most.
Whether that means a sunrise first look at Otter Cliffs, exchanging vows along the coast, hiking to scenic overlooks, sharing ice cream on a mountaintop, or celebrating over brunch with loved ones, your wedding day can be anything you want it to be.
