When Albert first reached out about proposing to Nikki, I could tell from our initial consult that he was beyond excited to make her Mrs. Truong. He wanted everything about the proposal to feel thoughtful and intentional, while still keeping it a complete surprise.
We had several calls leading up to the day to plan out every detail. From locations to timing to how the moment would unfold, Albert wanted to make sure Nikki experienced something unforgettable in one of the most beautiful places in Maine.
During the planning process, I shared multiple proposal locations throughout Acadia National Park. After talking through Nikki’s personality and what kind of experience Albert envisioned, we ultimately landed on the pebble coastline of Little Hunter’s Beach.
Albert also knew Nikki would want to end the day watching the sunset before heading to dinner, so we built the timeline to include Cadillac Mountain as the perfect way to celebrate afterward. Once the locations were finalized, I created a clear, stress free timeline so Albert knew exactly when to arrive, where to go, and who to look out for.
On the day of the proposal, I arrived at Little Hunter’s Beach about thirty minutes early to get into position. Nikki had no idea what was coming, and with other people scattered along the coastline, it was important that I blended in seamlessly.
I positioned myself on the rocks as the ocean waves slowly rolled into shore. My camera gear stayed hidden beneath a lightweight jacket, something I always wear when I need to stay undercover. After a few minutes, I spotted Albert and Nikki making their way down the steps toward the beach.
I caught Albert’s eye briefly without making it obvious. I had already told him what I’d be wearing so he could naturally position himself in front of me without raising any suspicion.

Once Albert was in place, he took one last look in my direction. I gave him a subtle thumbs up to let him know I was ready.
Albert dropped down on one knee, and the moment was finally here. Nikki’s face lit up as he slipped a breathtaking emerald cut ring onto her finger. The waves crashed gently behind them as they celebrated together, fully wrapped up in the moment.
I gave them a few minutes to soak it all in before introducing myself. We all had a good laugh about me being “some weird guy” sitting on a rock nearby as they got engaged. Afterward, we spent some time taking engagement photos along the rocky coastline, capturing the excitement and joy of just saying yes.

Once we wrapped up at Little Hunter’s Beach, we made our way up to Cadillac Mountain for an epic sunset. As soon as we reached the summit, we walked around taking in the sweeping views. Nikki was absolutely blown away. From the top, you could see Bar Harbor in the distance and cruise ships slowly making their way into the harbor.
As the sun began to set, Nikki had the idea to run down the paved road together while I captured photos. These ended up being some of my favorite images from their session. They perfectly show how adventurous, playful, and deeply in love they are.
We eventually grabbed some blankets and settled in, watching as the final light dipped below the ridge. Those quiet moments together marked the end of an incredible day before they headed into town to celebrate over dinner.

Planning a proposal in Acadia National Park starts with choosing a location that fits your partner’s personality. Whether that’s a quiet rocky beach, a scenic overlook, or a sunset on Cadillac Mountain, the right spot sets the tone for the entire moment. From there, timing is everything. Building a simple timeline around crowds, light, and weather helps keep the proposal stress free and allows you to stay fully present.
Having someone local who knows the park makes a huge difference. From location suggestions and backup plans to discreetly capturing the moment without giving anything away, a little planning goes a long way in creating an unforgettable proposal experience.
Albert and Nikki’s proposal was a perfect reminder that the most meaningful moments don’t need to be over complicated. A thoughtful plan, a stunning location, and genuine emotion are what truly matter. Watching Nikki’s excitement unfold and seeing these two soak in every second of their day was incredibly special.
